Competition in Classrooms

Rick Lavoie asks us to reconsider the competitive nature of our classrooms; awards, certificates, photos of winners, bribes, treats, and other "competition" tools do not motivate (other than the top performers).  Competitive classrooms create students that want others to fail... because it's in their best interest.

Types of Activities:
Individualized Learning - success or failure does not impact other students
Cooperative Learning - success or failure depends on each other
Competitive Learning - success depends on others failure
